For the longest had no real meaning to me it was just another continent. As an African American I find it difficult to feel like I belong to Africa even though it’s in me. After reading “Heritage” by Countee Cullen, it reminded me how beautiful and diverse Africa is. This poem also reminds me that I don’t need to be born there for it to be in me. There are so much culture, history, and people there that makes it so beautiful but like discussed in the poem there is also so much heartache and hardship. Africa is in all of us, and it shapes who we are.
