Intersectionality in America

Intersectionality is widely known around the nation for various reasons, but let's start by discussing its original meaning. Intersectionality refers to how different forms of discrimination interact and have a cumulative impact on people's daily lives, especially women of color. It's evolved into the broader sense of an intellectual framework for comprehending how different facets of a person's identity, such as their sexual orientation, gender, color, and socioeconomic class, can interact to produce unique experiences of privilege or oppression. Modern-day political and social trends have shaped the meaning of intersectionality into an aesthetic or a buzzword by overusing and abusing the word as well as forgetting its value to the point of obscurity. The real yet complex meaning deserves to be discussed. For example, an African American woman faces double the adversity of being a woman and Black. Instead of rejecting and working to change this issue, our nation's way of making progress is posting about it on Instagram in an attempt to seem culturally "woke."
