The Middle Passage a glorified Slavery

In school, we probably talked about slavery for at most a week and when we did it was always referred to as the middle passage. I never understood why until I grew up this term is used to gloss over slavery which stands for pure evil, hate, and the worst of America. The middle passage makes it seem like it was all just a transfer of goods and resources from one place to another. It wasn't just goods being transported it was real people but at that time they weren't human. They were seen as animals so to the white man they were transporting cattle or resources. The brutality of slavery is too gruesome to be talked about it school so in turn they use the Middle Passage to gloss over the truth. The Middle Passage was used to softens the facts, reducing slavery to a bad chapter in American History rather than a fundamental, harsh institution whose consequences continue to affect society. I argue for presenting the entire story not just the whitened down version but the lifetimes of dread that followed.
