Critical Race Theory

Should Black history be taught in schools? This has been a controversial question around the nation for decades now. There's a lot of different opinions circulating the U.S on whether it is a good idea to teach Black history. In my humble opinion I think it should be for many reasons. First off, Black history is AMERCIAN history and as much as republicans hate to admit it Blacks built the framework of this nation on their wilted and bruised backs. This being said you can't teach U.S history without mentioning African/African American contributions. Secondly, Black culture and history gave us the music, dance, and language that we have today. African Americans created blues, jazz, hip hop and so many other genres of music. Without their contributions to music, we wouldn't have some of our favorite songs to this day. Additionally, language words like "OK" were created by African tribes. We wouldn't be where we are now without the blood, sweat, and tears of Africans and the work they put into building America from the ground up. Lastly, children will become blind to the truth especially Black and Brown students who get most of their learning at school. Soon they will not know where they came from or how we got where we are. At this point, without Black history you're cancelling out parts of history that are essential for a student's personal growth, increasing their knowledge, the ability to think critically, and form their own opinions. All history needs to be taught for a student to become a well-rounded individual. At the end of the day Black history majorly benefitted American culture and deserves to be talked about.
